Come to a Charity Concert in Beech Forest (July 17 & 18)

Kyukamura Nyuto Onsenkyo (休暇村乳頭温泉郷) is one of the 7 hot spring inns in Nyuto Onsen Area. It is the largest of them, which can accommodate as many as 112 people. It is located next to Nyuto Campground (乳頭キャンプ場and surrounded by a beautiful beech forest with some hiking routes around it. The hotel presents many exciting events throughout the year: hiking tours, eco-candle illuminations, local Sake tasting, etc. This month they will host the biggest event of the year!

Buna-no-Mori Concert (ブナの森コンサート)will be held on July 17 and 18th during the three-days holiday weekend. The main attraction is the concert, which will be held on both days in the surrounding secondary beech forest: The abundance of water and fresh wide leaves are said to create a beautiful effect in echoing the sounds. Doesn’t it sound intriguing?

Other recreational activities are hiking tours, catch-and-grill of Japanese chars, flowing cold Inaniwa Udon noodle, a stage performance by a local magician, star-watching, some food services and souvenir give-aways, etc.

Aoni-an: A Small Restaurant of Aoni-Sanso in Mizusawa Area

Tazawako is a perfect place to get away from humidity and heat - especially in this summer when energy conservation is reinforced all over the country! These days Tazawako is only about 20 – 28 degree in Celsius (about 70 – 82 degree in Fehrenheit)!

When you visit Tazawako for the summer get-away, here is a place you can stop by for a lunch in Mizusawa Area!

Aoni-sanso (青荷山荘)is a hotel located next to Resort Hotel New Sky and across from Rotenburo Mizusawa Onsen. It is only a few minutes away from Tazawako Ski Area and Tazawako Sports Center and 15 minutes from Lake Tazawa. They have a small restaurant called Aonian (青荷庵) right next to the hotel.

Today we tried Tsugaru Sansai Soba (津軽山菜そば)and Hiyashi Chuka (冷やし中華).

Tsugaru Sansai Soba (津軽山菜そば) is a warm soup with soba (buckwheat) noodle soup and sansai (mountain vegetables). The noodle is from Tsugaru, which is Aomori Prefecture, and thinner and flavorful. (550 Yen)

Hiyashi Chuka (冷やし中華) is perhaps a standard dish for the summer! It is cold noodle served with various toppings and tangy soy-sauce. It is enjoyable even in the hot humid summer when you tend to lose appetite. (750Yen)

Other popular dishes at Aonian are Nijinobuta Combination (860Yen) and Nijinobuta Rice Bowl (680Yen). They serve Cold Inaniwa Udon (850Yen) as well.

The activities vary in time from 15 – 120 minutes, ranging the prices from 525 Yen to 2,300 Yen.

The green house (up right) is full of herbs!
There are many seedlings of herbs here such as rhuberbs (right bottom).

This weekend, July 9th and 10th Tazawako Heart Herb will offer you two exciting special classes: Gardening in the morning and Aromatherapy in the afternoon. Both classes are designed for beginners and anyone up to 10 people can sign up for this class.

In the morning there will be a Gardening Class. You will learn how to arrange flowers and herbs in group using a wired hanging basket. It will be held at the green house("Seeds") from 10:30 to 11:30. The fee is 2,600 Yen for a person.

In the afternoon is an Aromatherapy Class.  In the first part, you will select essential oils and make two kinds of massage oils for your body, face, or scalp. You will also learn how to have a hand bath at home using dried herbs. It will be inside the souvenir shop ("Fields") from 13:30 to 14:30 p.m. It is 2,000 Yen for a person.
