100 AKITA BIJIN CAMPAINGN in Tokyo (October 1)

Over the summer, Semboku City has launched a Tourism Federation in effort to unite the three tourism associations of independent towns in Semboku City: Tazawako, Kakunodate, and Nishiki areas. The Federation is called Tazawako Kakunodate Kanko Renmei (田沢湖・角館観光連盟), whose office is located in our Tazawako Tourism Association Office.

To commemorate its establishment, the Federation held a lecture in September which welcomed Mr. Mizobata Hiroshi, the Commissioner of Japan Tourism Agency, as a lecturer on topics regarding how to revitalize the tourism of Tohoku after the Great Earthquake. Needless to say, this lecture turned out to be a great success and gathered much attention in the related industries in Akita Prefecture.

Next project that the Federation has been working on is a Tourism Campaign in Tokyo to invite more travelers to Semboku City. Once again, the Campaign has been calling for much attention from the people and the media!

Why? Because the campaingn's main attraction is what Akita is famous for -- AKITA BIJIN, or Akita's beautiful women.

Akita is known for the birthplace of Onono-Komachi, a waka poet whose rare beauty has been written about more than centuries. Ever since, Akita has produced many beautiful celebrities like Nozomi Sasaki, Natsuki Kato, Ayako Fuji, etc. As you can see, Akita Bijin is known for the beautiful, smooth, bright skin with distinctive facial features!

100 AKITA BIJIN CAMPAIGN in TOKYO:

This is a tourism campaign by Tazawako Kakunodate Tourism Federation, which aims to revitalize the tourism in Semboku City with generous helps of women from Akita Prefecture whose physical beauty and mental strength are highly acclaimed nationwide.

For the popularity, the Federation has already and quickly collected 100 women -- whose origin is specifically related to Semboku City  as in "born," "raised," or "related" to the vicinity -- who wish to "volunteer" to contribute to the tourism of their hometown!

The 100 Akita Bijin will be handing out tourism information and coupons at the following locations in Tokyo on Saturday, October 1st, 2011.

1. Akita Sanchoku-ichi (秋田産直市) at JR Ueno Station Chuo-kaisatsu (Central Gate) Grand Concourse from 13:30- 14:30.

2.  Furusato Akita Matsuri in Yurakucho (ふるさと秋田まつりin有楽町)at Yurakuco Station Front Plaza at Tokyo Kotsu Kaikan (1st Floor) from 15:30 - 16:30.
