Georama Displayed at JR Tazawako Station

Some visitor may have noticed, recently a small set of georamas are being displayed at JR Tazawako Station. They are georama works created by an artist, Kosei Ito (伊藤幸正), who is a friend of Mr. Kuboichi, the station master at JR Tazawako Station.

Works by Kosei Ito from Daisen City

Kosei Ito’s Profile:

Born in 1958. As a child he built his first model of Subaru 360 that cost him only 30 yen— that had been the starting point of his half –a-century long career of model making. He worked for a well-known precision equipment manufacturer as an adult, but remained dreaming to become a professional georama artist at age 50.

His reputation was soon spread by word-of-mouth. From December 2009 to February 2010, his solo exhibition was held at JR Omagari Station to commemorate the station's 105th year anniversary. He not only brightens up the community members by his works but also hosting a workshop at the largest toy store in southern region in Akita. Today is finally living his lifetime dream.

Mr. Ito’s models vary from georamas to insects, and other things you see in the photos. See other works

Some antique pieces are no longer used in our high-tech railroad systems today.

While you are waiting for a train here, the display might take you out for a daydreaming trip to the good old railroad period.
