Semboku Pure: Pickled Vegetables Now Easier to Take Home as Souvenirs!

“The third-time snow becomes the rooted snow,” (「三度目の雪が根雪になる」) say the local people in Tazawako Area. The snowfall has become steady now, providing more snow to welcome the ski season that’s scheduled to open on December 16th, 2011.

The long winter in Akita has cultivated the rich culture of food preservation! The Society of Commerce and Industry, Tazawako Branch, has just released a new product designed by Tazawako’s local farmers like Pension Magobei.

"Semboku Pure"

Semboku Pure (センボクピュア) is a jar of pickled vegetables and mushrooms preserved in special pickling liquid. All the vegetables such as carrots, cucumbers, and king mushrooms were produced in the Semboku region and harvested during the ripe season. The crisp texture and natural sweetness of vegetables are addictive! Good thing that they come in jars, becaue now you can take these delicious specialties home as souvenir!

Semboku Pure has just been introduced this year. It is produced by hands of farmers on limited numbers. You will find them more readily at events like Yama no Rakuichi from the coming year!
