GANBARE JAPAN, GANBARE TOHOKU !!!

We send our sincerest condolences to all the people affected by the massive earthquakes in Japan. We send thoughtful prayers to all the victims in the areas.

Although we in Akita did suffer from temporary loss of lifelines (power, water, and networks) and still have been affected by the frequent aftershocks, we did survive!

Fortunately, Akita Prefecture is the least damaged in the Tohoku region. Akita government has announced to do the best to provide assistance to the distressed areas.

Akita Airport and Odate-Noshiro Airport (Kita-Akita Airport) were not damaged by the earthquakes and tsunamis, so that the Prefecture has added flights to carry more supplies and passengers.

Also, it has been reported that shelters for Akita refugees will become available for the other prefectural residences. Much food and fuel supplies as well as electricity have been sent out to the areas. We are doing the best we could to.

Although Akita’s damages has been minimum compared to that of the affected areas, tourism industry here has also been affected, let alone the Akita’s top tourist destination, Semboku City; however, now Tazawako hotel industry is united to come up with a prompt assistance plan. We will announce it as soon as it becomes official.

As a fellow Tohoku community, it is our time to help one another. We will do our best to update you with helpful travel and safety information as well as some encouraging articles for all the disaster-affected people.

Please help us to spread the words and collect the right information by sharing links on twitter, blog comments, e-mails, and phone calls. (We know that information in foreign language seems limited and much needed as well.)

Let us stay positive...!!!!!

Ganbare Nippon, Ganbare Tohoku!
